Handmade soap making at Sudsverse: pouring tea tree and charcoal soap mixture into a mold with natural ingredients like olive oil and peppermint leaves

Step-by-Step: How We Craft Our Soaps

1. Selecting the Finest Natural Ingredients

It all starts with nature’s best. We handpick ingredients like olive oil for its moisturizing properties, coconut oil for a rich lather, and RSPO-certified palm oil for a creamy texture—all sourced sustainably to support ethical farming and protect forests. For our tea tree and peppermint soaps, we add essential oils for their invigorating scents and skin-soothing benefits, while charcoal (in the charcoal variant) draws out impurities. Castor oil boosts the suds, and shea butter or marula oil (in select batches) adds extra hydration. Every ingredient is chosen to nurture your skin and the planet.

2. The Cold Process Magic

Our soaps are made using the traditional cold process method, a hands-on technique that preserves the natural goodness of our ingredients. We blend the oils with distilled water and sodium hydroxide (which transforms into soap through saponification, leaving no trace in the final product). Sodium lactate is added to harden the bars, and citric acid balances the pH for gentle cleansing. For our tea tree-charcoal-peppermint trio, we carefully measure these components to ensure the perfect synergy of detoxifying charcoal, antibacterial tea tree, and refreshing peppermint.

3. Adding Color and Character

To give our soaps their unique look, we mix in natural micas or oxides for vibrant hues, or kaolin clay and charcoal for earthy tones and added skin benefits. Each batch is customized—our charcoal soap gets its deep black from activated charcoal, while peppermint adds a cool green vibe. This step is all about blending beauty with function, all naturally.

4. Hand-Pouring and Curing

Once blended, the soap mixture is poured by hand into molds. This small-batch process allows us to control quality and reduce waste—key to our eco-friendly mission. The molds are left to set, then the soap is cut into bars with care. The real magic happens during the curing phase: we let the bars rest for 4-6 weeks. This slow drying process ensures hardness, longevity, and a gentle, skin-friendly pH, making each bar (like our tea tree or peppermint favorites) ready to pamper you.

5. Quality Checks and Packaging

Before reaching your hands, every bar undergoes a rigorous quality check. We test for texture, scent, and lather to guarantee perfection. Our soaps are then wrapped in biodegradable packaging, aligning with our zero-waste goals. Whether it’s the detoxifying charcoal soap or the refreshing peppermint, each bar is a testament to our commitment to you and the Earth.
